Two teachers. One floor-to-ceiling-light room.

Sandcastle Studio was started by a former primary art teacher and her partner, an illustrator, who wanted to build the kind of art space they wished had existed for their own kids.

We do not chase exam outcomes. We teach children that their first idea is worth following, and that finishing a piece matters more than starting a new one.

Every term ends with an exhibition. Every child's work appears. There is no judging panel.

The studio is 1,200 square feet. East-facing, two large windows, kid-height tables, washable everything. Materials cabinet stocked with watercolour, gouache, acrylic, mixed-media collage materials, clay, ink. We've been gradually adding to the cabinet since 2019 and now most kids find their preferred medium within the first term.
