In 2025, the Society served 412 elderly residents across Bedok and Tampines. We delivered 19,400 grocery bags. Our volunteers accompanied 308 medical appointments. We made 5,200 friendly visits, about 100 per week.
Three things we did well: (1) we caught Mr Lim's diabetes complications early because our volunteer noticed slurred speech and called an ambulance; he's recovering. (2) We grew our volunteer base from 102 to 124, almost entirely through neighbour-tells-neighbour. (3) We replaced our IT system with a simpler one, after spending five years on something too complicated.
Three things we got wrong: (1) we missed two beneficiaries during the Lunar New Year package distribution. We have changed how we run the list. (2) Our annual report came out late. We have committed to publishing by 15 March every year from 2026 onwards. (3) We accepted a corporate donation conditional on photography we weren't comfortable with. We have written down our donor guidelines so this doesn't recur.
Our audited 2025 accounts are published in full at the foot of this letter. Total expenditure: SGD 612,000. Of which 94 cents on the dollar went to direct beneficiary support. We have a small office, three salaried staff, and no fundraising budget.
