A day, in detail
Most parents ask, on the first visit, “what does a typical day look like?” Below is the longer version of our daily flow. What each block is for, how long it runs, what your child does. We don't guarantee the day goes exactly to plan (it doesn't, ever, that's preschool) but the rhythm is consistent.
Arrival, free choice
Children settle. Teachers greet each child by name and check in with the parent at drop-off. Children choose from open stations: building, reading corner, sensory tray, drawing table.
Morning meeting
Whole-group circle. Songs, story, weather check, calendar. The older children take turns leading parts of it.
Focused activity
Age-grouped. Toddlers do sensory + language work. Nursery does pre-literacy + numeracy. Kindergarten does inquiry-based projects, often spanning two weeks.
Garden time
Every child outside. Gardening (we grow tomatoes, basil, sweet potato, lettuce), mud kitchen, water table, climbing structure. Sun-hat compulsory, sunscreen optional but available.
Lunch + cleanup
Family-style. Children serve themselves where age-appropriate. We don't make children eat what they don't want; we do encourage them to try a bite.
Quiet time
Toddlers nap. Nursery rest. Kindergarten reads quietly or works on independent projects.
Afternoon project
Mixed-age groups can occur here. Art, music, gross motor depending on the day. Wednesdays are music-specialist days.
Outdoor + snack
Light snack, back outside. Free play with adult supervision. This is also when older siblings sometimes pop in from their school day.
Departure + write-home note
Each parent receives a brief written note about the child's day (one to three sentences, specific to that child). Pick-up window staggered.
