The Tai Seng workshop
Carpenter & Bay was started by two ex-site-supervisors who wanted to run jobs the way they'd always wished their bosses had run them: one team, one number to call, one fixed quote.
We do about thirty projects a year. We turn down jobs that don't fit our crew shape. We have never failed a HDB defect inspection.
Our carpentry is built in our own workshop in Tai Seng — not subcontracted to a workshop in JB.
Most renovation companies in Singapore subcontract their carpentry to workshops in Johor Bahru. Lower labour cost. We do the opposite: every wardrobe, vanity counter, TV console, kitchen cabinet is built in our 4,200 sqft Tai Seng workshop by four full-time carpenters who have been with us for 6+ years.
This costs more. It pays back in two ways: (1) we can fix something in three days when a hinge fails three years later, and (2) we don't lose a week to customs every time a unit comes back across the border for adjustment.
10-year carpentry warranty
Every piece of carpentry we build comes with a written 10-year warranty against material failure (hinges popping, drawer rails failing, finish delaminating). Three years in, the typical industry rate of hinge replacement is around 15%. Ours sits under 2%.
